New Female Artists:PT 3 - Spotlight on Jessie J

How people have heard of  Youtube sensation Jessie Cornish ?

None of you ,I hear you say!

WRONG!
Jessica Cornish aka Jessie J is the artisit of the moment,if you don't know about her,you will be the end of this month (as she is getting bigger by the day)

I featured Jessie in a post back in November 2010,as Do Like It A Dude was due for release the following month. When released it entered the top forty and continued to climb the charts for the coming weeks.

Fast forward two months:

* Jessie J won the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll

* Won a Brit's Critics Choice award

*' Do It Like A Dude' peaked at Number two in the UK charts

*  Her second single Price Tag ft B.O.B is Number One in the mid week chart, not surprising as the video has had over 2,600,000 million hits in a week !

The Number one position,is well deserved. As she has been very honest about her struggles in becoming a recording artist, along with her personal struggles (which include suffering from a stroke).

It is also one of the first singles to be out after the new agreement.Which means that when a new single is released on radio,it would subsequently be available to download digitally within the same week. The agreement is shared by the big four music labels, these are Universal (Jessie's label),Warner,Sony and EMI

Jessie has performed in gigs throughout the UK since the end of last year, below is her performing 'Price Tag' at London's Scala with Devlin

Jessie J's début album 'Who We Are' is out on 28th February, four weeks early then planned and I can't wait to get my copy.

Jessie J has well and truly done a 'Justin Bieber',by moving away from being that amazing singer on Youtube to taking over the UK and mark my words, she will do the same to the world.Lady Gaga better watch out!

Finally a Beauty Post!

I fell in ♥ with Models Own Nail Polish's last year

I purchased a Silver glitter based polish called Juicy Jules back in December, but it was only in January when I saw it's potential.

Why?

The reason is because,I decided layer it over another colour ( pink to be exact) which caused a holographic effect.

Ooooohhhhhhh I though.

Originally,I had already applied a set of Kiss false nails and painted them with

MUA Shade 3 £1 Superdrug

Then a couple of days later,I just though go on and painted Models Own Juicy Jules

On top of the original nail colour and Voilà =  A pink holographic effect

sorry about the unclear image my camera is playing up

Two coats where placed on top of MUA Shade 3

Again, sorry about the image and nails they are really weak at the moment. So I growing them back

The colours remind me of  Nicki Minaj but I can't image her walking around with the exact republica of my design.

But I can see her with pink and silver glitter nails !

Nicki Minaj during her stay here in the UK

I love the holographic finish Juicy Jules brought to my nails,it has also brought a softer yet space age feel.

What do you think?   I'll love to hear your opinions,do you have any similar techniques.

Rihanna - S&M

I love this song it's a grower.

It's been out for a while now and it might be too much for some but it's Rihanna,so it's tasteful even though the song and the video is very S&M themed.ENJOY.

Rastamouse

Have you seen it YET!

I HAVE AND YES I AM 24 YEARS OLD AND IT IS AIMED AT THE UNDER 5'S BUT ITS GREAT!

DJ and Presenter Reggie Yates' voice has been put to use in the new CBeebies programme 'Rastamouse'. Based on the popular series of books.

One minute in and you'll feel like you've been transported to the Caribbean. Not only do the mice have the accent and the laid back charm, they also seem to make everything look cool.

When I was a small kiddie,I only had Thomas the Tank engine (I'm not hating,I just complaining) to watch

BUT my niece and the other young ones have Rastamouse. Not fair.

It's so popular I can hardly find a link to embed the video (the owners have disabled embedding requests)onto my blog,so have a look over here

Ironik feat. McLean - Killed Me

Ironik and McLean have teamed up for this beautiful melodic track. You will have
'That's when you killed me,I just forgot to lie down' in your head after you hear this.

Enjoy!

Alesha Dixon - 'Every Little Part Of Me' (Ft. Jay Sean)

Maybe because it's Friday but this song makes me want to 'Put my hands up'

New in Town:Spotlight on the UK's Newest Male RnB Artists

Let me introduce you to the ones to watch UK and Ireland/Men/RnB wise in the world of Music. They have all featured on hit singles, worked with the most sought after producers and now in 2011 they are willing to have their time to shine in their own right.

Loick Essien

My favourite RnB track from last year is this 20 year old's début track Love Drunk  produced by Labrinth, who you may remember produced Tinie Tempah's mega hit 'Pass Out'.

Loick never fails to disappoint,he has also featured on singles by both Chipmunk and Bashy.Stuttering was originally recorded in 2008 by Mario aka Mr 'Let me love you' circa 2005,but I like this version much better.

Maverick Sabre

You may of heard Maverick Sabre on Professor's Green Jungle, but this year he is set to make an impression on the charts.

Talay Riley

Talay Riley wrote Chipmunk's Oopsy Daisy and featured on 'Look for Me'.He released the single Humanoid last year and he is now back in 2011 with Sargent Smash. The remix of this single is also available to download for free, you can find it here which will take you to his facebook fan page

So is this going to be yet another good year for UK music ? I think so.What are your thoughts on this topic ?
